During Nicole's teaching internship at Sullivan Middle School, she taught 6th graders about Catawba pottery.  Students studied the history of Rock Hill, South Carolina's Catawba Indians. In addition, students studied the seven-step process of making traditional pottery. Students were inspired by the history and making process to use stop motion animation and oil pastelist create their own Catawba inspired pottery.

Students who used stop motion animation worked in groups or two to three and created a short video showing at least two of the seven steps to making pottery. Those who used oil pastels were inspired to use earth tone colors to draw two-dimensional pottery.

After two weeks of hard work, students were selected to have their work displayed in Winthrop University's Lewandowski Student Gallery from November 1, 2016 to 14, 2016.
